Faros is a Sifnos fishermen village situated inside a small bay which is very well protected form the winds of the Aegean Sea. Faros was the main port of Sifnos island until 1883 and the village was named after a lighthouse of the old port (Faros in Greek language means lighthouse) Faros has a good road access on asphalt road and distance from Apollonia village is about 7 km. There is also an old path, for trekking lovers, leading from Faros to Glifo.
Sifnos Faros beach situated in the center of the village, close to restaurants, taverns, cafes and a grocery, has a fantastic view to Chryssopigi which is the most famous church of the island. Faros asphalt road ends in front of the beach and parking is an issue during high tourism period.
