| Profitis Elias Monastery |

The Monastery of Profitis Elias is standing on the highest mountain of Sifnos island, 680 meters above the sea level. The footpath leading to the monastery is sometimes narrow and steep. You need at least one hour walking to reach the top so take care for your water provisions. Your unique reward will be the marvelous view of Sifnos and of some other Aegean islands from the top. Visibility of course is depending from the hour of the day and the weather conditions. This Monastery was built around 1650, on the ruins of an ancient acropolis. Monastery's annual feast take's place on 19th of July when official celebration is the day after. |
